In 2011, the Bazaar will be actively contributing to these excellent organizations, and we hope our patrons will help as well.

The Bazaar is closed until Thanksgiving Weekend 2012

The 2011 Bazaar season has come and gone, and an exciting and busy time it was. Thank you to all our patrons, suppliers, employees and friends for making this a successful year, in many different ways.

During the sale our customers were very supportive of the charities that we help; over the seven weeks, together we were able to contribute the following:

  •      Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors without Borders - Together we contributed a total of $16,250.48 to the Horn of Africa Relief efforts; $4,625.24 from our customers, $4,624.24 from Third World Bazaar and $7,000 from the Federal Government.
  •      Shepherds of Good Hope - Together we have collected the equivalent of 15 shopping carts of food for this wonderful Ottawa service.
  •      Help Lesotho / Pearls for Girls - We raised $1,175 through the sale of Earrings, Necklaces and Bracelets. All of this money has gone directly to assist the education of girls in Lesotho Africa.
  •      Habitat for Humanity - During the first 6 weekend of the Bazaar all revenue from the hot coffee sales sold inside the building went to support house construction in Nicaragua. Chris Tessier and Jill Woodley were able to raise $2100 for this good work.

Now we are all taking a short break, before heading off on another buying trip. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2012, after we have restocked the barn.

Check the Buying Trips section to see where we will be sourcing our product from this year.
